Difference between Individual and Group Health Insurance

Health insurance is an assurance cover provided by various companies for the purposes of covering unexpected expenses occurring in various healths related issues. Various skills have been offered by number of companies covering ‘N’ number of diseases on competitive premium rates. In such policies certain numbers of diseases are quoted in the list prescribed by insurance providing companies. Insurance providing companies determine the rates of the premium according to the age, physical fitness of the insurer and the amount for which the insurer is insured. Now days, it is very beneficial to get insured with Individual Health Insurance or Group Health Insurance.

There are two types of health insurance schemes are made available by various insurance companies as Individual Health Insurance and Group Health Insurance. In Individual Health Insurance the premium is paid by the individual himself and gets insured for the certain limit of age, from unexpected expenses occurring due to various diseases and hospitalization or surgery. In such cases the premium is depend upon the amount for which the person is insured. In many cases the amount of accumulated premium is refunded if not claimed and in other cases the amount of premium is not refunded. In second case the amount of premium is much lower than the first one.

Group Health Insurance schemes work just like Individual Health Insurance schemes but in group type of insurance schemes large numbers of people are covered or insured against their health issues, disease and hospitalization charges. Generally Group Health Insurance scheme and its premium is provided or paid by the employer of any concern for its employees or it may be a government provided social program under which not only the employees of government under taking are insured but also the dependent people. The Group Health Insurance is provided at very lower premium and the employer pays the same. In case of health insurance under government social program, government provides health insurance for the people engaged in hazardous type of employment or for the people suffering frequent natural calamities.

Thus individual or Group Health Insurance schemes are beneficial for the people against unexpected heavy expenses of various diseases, its treatment, surgeries, hospitalization etc.
